We had some fun … and did some good, too!

THE FUN ...

We would like to thank Bill Berloni, his wonderful wife Dorothy and
daughter Jenna for their help and support in bringing attention to the
ARF! Animals Respect and Friendship Fund.

On Thursday, August 26, 2010, Bill Berloni announced the "winners" of the 2010
ARF! Animals: Respect and Friendship Fund
mascot contest at the
Centerbrook Meetinghouse, and spoke about animal welfare, companionship
and his experiences.

Many of your favorite animals on stage, television and screen – such as Sandy, Bruiser and the animals on Sesame Street – are lovingly trained by Middlesex County’s own Bill Berloni, William Berloni’s Theatrical Animals, a widely recognized expert in animal behavior, dedicated advocate of rescue work, and well-known animal trainer for stage and screen.

Bill and Bear

He and his handlers have provided animals of all species and sizes for Broadway, off Broadway, national tours, regional theaters, special events, the New York City Ballet, movies and television.

Mr. Berloni is currently the Director of Animal Behavior for the Humane Society of New York and is involved in helping animals that need homes.

THE GOOD…

If you’ve heard the woofs, chirps, meows, peeps (and more) at the Community Foundation, you know that a family of animal lovers established ARF! Animals: Respect and Friendship Fund, an endowed community-based Fund dedicated to helping animals and their human friends in Middlesex County.

This fund aids local nonprofit organizations that care for animals and funds such things as:

Shelter and comfort
Training animals and people for shared gifts of companionship
Rescue, protection and adoption
Therapy, assistance and enjoyment
Prevention of cruelty
Elderly companionship
Services for the disabled … and more.
