Animals do the darndest things ... and many services wouldn't exist if it weren't for their special abilities. So this August, MCCF and the ARF! Fund are celebrating all the animals who are "workin' for a living!"

Join us on Wednesday, August 24 at Centerbrook Meeting House (in the Centerbrook section of Essex) as we celebrate animals who are "workin' for a living!" - law enforcement officers, assisted therapies practitioners, hospice comforters, "I can read" library listeners, "seeing eye" partners, and so much more!

	The Fun begins at 5:30 p.m.with hors d'oeuvres and friendship
	Our program continues at 6:00 p.m. with presentations about animals "workin' for a living" as we welcome Kitty Stalsburg, High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, and Connecticut Trooper Kerry Taylor and her partner K9 Shutz.
	The evening concludes with more hors d'oeuvres and friendship from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 and a donation of 1 can or bag of dog or cat food
(Proceeds support the ARF! Fund;
food donations will be made to local rescue groups and animal shelters.)

They Need Us …

Animals play a vital role in our quality of life. Pets in particular provide unqualified love, true companionship and, in some cases, essential services to the disabled, elderly and those in need.

We Need Them …

Middlesex County Community Foundation believes that we have a responsibility to these animals, and an obligation to preserve the basic dignity that comes with sharing a world with all living creatures.

Animals: Respect and Friendship Fund In 2008, a family of animal lovers established ARF!, Animals: Respect and Friendship, an endowed, community-based Fund dedicated to helping animals and their human friends in Middlesex County. ARF! Animals: Respect and Friendship Fund at the Community Foundation is a charitable repository for those who love animals and want to direct contributions in support of this cause.

By building a permanent and sustainable resource, the Fund will aid local nonprofit organizations that care for animals and will fund such things as:

	Shelter and comfort
	Training animals and people for shared gifts of companionship
	Therapy, assistance and enjoyment
	Rescue, protection and adoption
	Prevention of cruelty
	Elderly companionship
	Services to the disabled … and more.
